These yoga bliss balls are yummy organic treats using tasty, healthy and nutritious ingredients. They are not necessarily an Ayurvedic Recipe but more of a “yoga recipe” or “yoga snack”. I like to eat these before a yoga class – one or 2 but not more than that.
This recipe makes about 16 – 18 large balls; however, you can make about 24 smaller ones if you like.
1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds (I sometimes substitute for pumpkin seeds)
1 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup dates (soak overnight if possible)
1/2 cup goggi berries (soak overnight if possible)
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup quick or rolled oats (optional but provide extra protein and make a good binding agent)
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup of coconut oil (in warm liquid form)
1 cup soy nut butter (you can use your favorite nut or seed butter here)
3/4 cup cocoa powder (you can substitute with carob powder)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp of ground cloves
Method and Procedure:
Cut up apricots and dates and place in a bowl. Add goggi berries, sunflower seeds, coconut, oats, and half of the maple syrup.
Combine, and place half of the mixture in a food processor and blend until very fine.
Transfer to a very large bowl and repeat with the remaining mixture; transfer to bowl.
Add all remaining ingredients and combine thoroughly.
It’s most effective if you get in there with your hands and really mix and squish your batter around.
When you have completely mixed your ingredients into a nice, thick & dense dough, lick off your hands and taste your creation before washing.
Form into large or smaller balls of your choice (I like fat ones so I don’t eat too many) and roll in shredded coconut.
If the balls are too dry to pick up the coconut shavings add a little more coconut oil.
Place in the fridge for an hour or so, so they can firm up. Take them out as required and enjoy.
