Happy New Year Everyone and welcome to 2019. According to numerology, this year represents the number 3 making it a year for creativity, self-expression, and alignment.
The number 3 for many has always been considered a very sacred number. In reference to yoga, part of why we are here is to integrate and unify the 3 aspects of ourselves – the body, mind and soul.
Yoga also recognizes that we have a physical, subtle and causal body, we operate through the three gunas – sattva, rajas and tamas, and that knowledge is represented in the sacred mantra Om – representing the three states of consciousness by the three sounds or syllables A, U and M. When we utter the word AUM as one word it symbolizes the fourth state of supreme consciousness.
According to many astrologers and numerologists 2019 is going to be a very special year. Under this number 3 energy, we are going to be guided to align our mind, body, and soul, and express our true self and true desires out into the world.
We may also feel guided to start and complete something extraordinary this year or to find more balance, harmony and alignment in our everyday life. Three is a powerful number with great significance and we will collectively be working with this vibration and creative energy throughout the year.
So, knowing this, what will be your 2019 Yoga New Year’s Resolution and Intention? Yoga teaches us to create a resolve or a sankalpa and work with that resolve until it has manifested.
For me, I feel it is appropriate to create 3 resolutions for 2019 and I would like to share them with you.
1. Be Grateful – First of all I am grateful for the grace of the Lord to allow me to show up on my yoga mat and meditation seat every day and practice, even if it is for 10 minutes. I am grateful to be able to learn the teachings of Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedenta from my teachers and masters. I am grateful for my own insights and realizations. I am grateful to be able to share these teachings and insights with my students. “I am grateful and appreciate myself, and all the people and experiences, interactions and connections I am a part of.
2. Be Integral – “I am full and complete and will embrace both my light and shadows. I am all-inclusive and treat everyone equally. I am authentic, open and vulnerable. I speak my truth (non-violent) without worrying about what others will think. I am unique yet interconnected to everyone and everything on this planet.”
3. Be Accepting – “I accept that everyone is different and has their own perceptions, opinions and conclusions. I am to other’s opinions and I listen with empathy. I am aware of my opinions, expectations and challenges. I choose to investigate them and act with more kindness and compassion.”
I hope you enjoyed this blog post and I wish you all the love, success and happiness on your journey and creations throughout 2019.
With Love & Light
