This course & training will teach practices and modalities specifically related to: Yin Yoga and Mindfulness. Learn ESSENTIAL techniques and routines to become a yin yoga & mindfulness teacher and practitioner
Yin yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles that are predominant today. In this training we will explore and elaborate on the 4 core pillars of Yin Yoga:
Yin Yoga & Meridian Theory
Learn & experience how Chi moves through a network of energy pathways called ‘Jing-luo’ and how it interconnects and encapsulates all tissues and cells. 12 main meridians plus 8 minor meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) will be explored in the yin yoga practice. In addition, the yogic system of nadis will be examined and specific yoga pranayama breathing techniques will be prescribed.
Essentials for Teaching Yin Yoga
You will learn specific postures and how to sequence them for organ health. We will explore the physical, mental and emotional aspects of the organs and how to bring them into balance – based on the Daoist principle of Yin & Yang. Modifications with precise and correct alignment cues will be learned as well as The Sustainable Yin Approach for teaching and practicing in a safe & effective way.
Yin Yoga & Mindfulness
Cultivating a practice of mindfulness, stillness and presence is one of the most important aspects of yoga and can be easily integrated with a Yin Yoga Practice. We will unpack the four foundations of mindfulness. Understanding these will help to develop a strong meditation practice. Studies have found that mindfulness increases positive emotions and cognitive function while reducing negative emotions and stress.
Yin Yoga Philosophy & Foundations
Using specific yoga & ayurveda texts we will explore the causes of disease and the appropriate remedies to restore physical, mental and emotional health.
Upon completion of both Level 1 & Level 2 you will receive a 30 hr Yin Yoga certification form the Sacred Seed Yoga School enabling you to teach yin yoga. Open to all levels, this program is designed for everyone and anyone wanting to make a positive change for well-being.
Credits or CEUs from this course can be used towards the Yoga Alliance as continuing education.
The importance of Yin Yoga:
While practicing yin yoga, we relax our muscles and start applying moderate pressure to connective tissues of the body such as fascia, tendons, and ligaments.
Studies have shown that Yin Yoga can increase muscle suppleness and elasticity, thus enhancing and strengthening the connective tissues in the body. Yin yoga helps in boosting the health of joints & ligaments.
Yin Yoga is used in yoga therapy to restore organ health and balance all the systems of the body. It also has a deep soothing and relaxing effect on the brain.
As a certified Yin Yoga Teacher you will learn and teach students to: increase circulation in the joints, improve energy flow through the meridians, improve their overall strength and flexibility and gain valuable insights for a calm and balanced mind.
